Mohanlal’s ‘Hridayapoorvam’, directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, has shown a steady run at the box office during its opening weekend. Co-starring Malavika Mohanan and Sangeeth Prathap, the film has tapped into the audience’s love for feel-good family dramas and has managed to hold its ground despite competition from big-budget releases.According to early estimates of Sacnilk, ‘Hridayapoorvam’ collected Rs 2.85 crore on day 3, taking its total collection to Rs 8.60 crore. The movie opened on Thursday with Rs 3.25 crore, dipped slightly to Rs 2.5 crore on Friday, and then saw a mild recovery on Saturday.

Theatre occupancy

The Malayalam family entertainer also reported an overall 41.27% occupancy on Saturday across theatres in Kerala. Morning shows started at a modest 20.16%, but by night, occupancy surged to 59.22% which shows a strong word-of-mouth from family audiences who prefer evening shows.Interestingly, while ‘Hridayapoorvam’ may not have matched the pace of Dominic Arun’s superhero film ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’, Mohanlal’s stardom seems to have ensured a bigger opening day collection than Lokah. However, with the latter receiving stronger reviews and drawing in younger audiences, ‘Hridayapoorvam’ is now settling into a steadier family-driven box office performance.

Malavika Mohanan on audience love

The cast has been relishing the warm reception. Actress Malavika Mohanan, who plays a pivotal role in the film, shared her happiness with fans through an Instagram post. Posting a behind-the-scenes photo with Mohanlal, she wrote, “#Hridayapoorvam is running successfully & there’s so much love coming our way. A big big hug to all of you who have given me so much love. Let’s do a Q&A and chat more about the film?” She also shared her personal experience working with Mohanlal.
