Over the years, Elliot Page, best known for The Umbrella Academy, has been open about his journey as a transgender man and his experiences growing up queer. The 39-year-old actor recently lent his voice as a narrator and also co-produced the documentary Second Nature, which explores same-sex relationships in the animal kingdom. Speaking to People, Page shared how his own experiences as a queer person motivated him to support the project and help bring it to life.Reflecting on his childhood, he said, “I think that sense of growing up as a queer kid and feeling alone—because you feel like you are alone, even though, of course, in retrospect, you weren’t—you feel excluded, you feel like something’s wrong with you.”He also highlighted the importance of the documentary, noting how heteronormative ideas are often imposed on society. “You’re carrying these bricks of shame, and there are such implications and consequences in terms of censorship and erasure… and this idea that nature is organized around a cis-heteronormative system is just completely false,” he added.
