Months after Operation Sindoor’s success, Pakistan’s foreign minister Ishaq Dar on Friday said that Islamabad was ready to hold “composite dialogue” with India on all pending issues between the two countries, including Kashmir.

India, after launching Operation Sindoor in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, clearly mentioned that it will only hold talks with Pakistan on the issue of terrorism.

“Pakistan is ready for a composite dialogue with India in a dignified and respectful manner on all outstanding issues, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute as per its longstanding position on the matter,” Dar said.

The composite dialogue process between India and Pakistan was first launched in 2003 under General Pervez Musharraf, covering eight broad areas of bilateral concern.

However, the initiative collapsed after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and has not been revived in its entirety since.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar claimed that during the recent flare-up, Islamabad’s stance received international recognition through what he termed “proactive diplomacy.”

However, most of the nations condemned Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians and was claimed by Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba’s offshoot, The Resistance Front.

The latest tensions were triggered after India carried out precision strikes under Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

In retaliation, Pakistan launched attempted strikes on Indian military installations between May 8 and 10. India responded with counterattacks against multiple Pakistani military positions.

After four days of drone and missile exchanges across the border, the two countries agreed on May 10 to halt hostilities.

India downgraded its diplomatic ties with Pakistan by imposing punitive measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and blocking bilateral trade.
