The film industry mourns the loss of Nadia Farès, the cherished French actress who passed away at 57 after a tragic week-long coma triggered by cardiac arrest. Celebrated for her role in ‘The Crimson River,’ she had previously opened up about her health challenges, notably a brain aneurysm and heart surgeries.

Famed French actress Nadia Farès has passed away a week after falling into a coma. She was 57 at the time of her passing, and is survived by her daughters, Cylia and Shana Chasman. Her family issues an official statement confirming the news.

A week after being found unconscious in a pool, the actress’s family revealed that she had passed away at the hospital after suffering from a cardiac arrest and slipping into a coma for a week, AFP reported. Her daughters also issued formal statements announcing the news to the world.Their statement read, “It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Nadia Farès this Friday. France has lost a great artist, but for us, it is above all a mother we have just lost.” Police had started an investigation into her case; however, it was confirmed that no wrongdoing was found by them.

Cylia Chasman shares a tribute post for her mother

Cylia, one of Farès’ daughters, took to her social media account to share a tribute post for her mother. She shared, “It pains me to say goodbye, but mama, I will make you so proud. I am so happy that we got even closer than we were before in your last few months. You understood me better than anyone, and I don’t know how I will recover. People always say I’m mini you, and that’s the best compliment.”Furthermore, she talked about how grateful she is for her mother and that she will continue to be her biggest inspiration in life. She concluded the post by adding, “You were not only an amazing mom but my best friend. …I love you, please watch over me. You have shown me how fast life can change literally overnight. I will take that with me every day and make every day count for you.”

Nadia Farès and her health struggles

The actress had, over the years, been candid about her fragile health and had often shared updates about what was going on with the world. Le Monde reported that she had been under the knife a couple of times and had a surgery for a brain aneurysm in 2007. She had also revealed that she had undergone three separate surgeries for her heart as well.

Nadia was born on December 20, 1968, in Marrakesh, Morocco, and started her career in the entertainment industry around the early 90s. Her breakthrough role came in the early 2000s after she worked on Mathieu Kassovitz’s ‘The Crimson River’, one of her most popular works. Over the years, Farès worked on a wide variety of French-language films and even broke into the Hollywood market with ‘Storm Warning’ in 2007.On the work front, she was reportedly set to make her debut as a screenwriter and director in September this year.
