'Wrong place at the wrong time': Indian man in US reveals what cops told his father after YouTuber Vitaly called him a pedophile

Akash Singhania released the phone conversation between the cop and his father after he was cleared of the false accusations made by Vitaly on livestream.

Indian man Akash Singhania has now revealed the telephone conversation between a police officer and his father after Singhania was accused by Russian YouTuber Vitaly as being a pedophile on a livestream. The police officer who identified him as Officer Sanchez told Akash’s father that Akash was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was taken for questioning, as he was not the suspect. Akash was not getting arrested and charged, the officer told Akash’s father. Akash’s father asked the officer what to do with the people who bullied and accused him wrongly. The officer said they will have to take legal advice if they want to sue the YouTuber and his aides. “You should. I genuinely feel bad for your son,” the officer said, adding that he would have done the same thing if he were the father.

Who are Akash Singhania and YouTuber Vitaly? What is the controversy?

Vitaly is a Russian YouTuber who is known for harassing people, and that’s why he’s called a ‘nuisance streamer’. He was detained or jailed several times in the past, including the most serious case in the Philippines, where he was detained for around 10 months and deported. In an episode of Catching Child Predators, Vitaly set up a sting and accused Indian-origin Singhania of being a child predator as they accused him of trying to meet someone knowing that she was 16 years old. Singhania said he never knew the person was 16 and when the YouTuber’s gang read out some messages purported to be from Akash, Singhania said that was not his username; he is a different Akash. When Vitaly realized they had the wrong person, he called Akash ‘one of those tech Indians, the smart ones’. Akash called the police as the gang continued harassing him for content. Vitaly issued an apology to Singhania and his family, but Singhania said the impact of the video and the false accusation has been significant. “I have experienced harassment, judgment, and damage to my personal and professional relationships based on something that has now been proven false,” he said. “This false accusation, along with the racism, harassment, and bullying has turned my life upside down,” Singhania said, releasing the conversation of the police officer with his father. Singhania is the founder and CEO of Hotbox Vending LLC, according to his LinkedIn profile. The Dallas-based company provides vape, THC and other alternative product vending solutions across the United States.
