North London man appears in court over fatal Primrose Hill stabbing

A north London man appeared at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old film student Finbar Sullivan near Primrose Hill.Sullivan was found with stab injuries near the popular viewpoint on April 7. Emergency services were called to the scene around midday, but despite the efforts of paramedics, he died from his injuries.The accused, identified as 27-year-old Oliuwadamilola Ogunyankinnu from Southbury Road in Enfield, was presented before the court.During the brief hearing, his identity was confirmed. District judge Ashwinder Gill ruled that the case was too serious to be handled at the magistrates’ level and transferred it to the Old Bailey. Ogunyankinnu was remanded in custody and is due to appear there on April 15.The Metropolitan Police said officers responded swiftly after receiving reports of a stabbing at Primrose Hill. The area was cordoned off as investigators gathered evidence and spoke to witnesses, leading to the arrest and subsequent charge.Finbar Sullivan, a student at the London Screen Academy, was remembered by teachers and classmates as a creative and energetic presence. His father, Chris Sullivan, told BBC London that his son brought warmth and enthusiasm to every space he entered. Friends and members of the community have paid tribute, describing him as someone who left a lasting impression on those around him.The incident has shocked residents in the Primrose Hill area, known for its calm surroundings and scenic views. Police have increased patrols in the neighbourhood to reassure the public while investigations continue.Detectives have urged anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have information about the incident to come forward.
