Maruti Suzuki India plans to introduce four new electric vehicles by 2031 as part of its long-term strategy, a senior company executive told news agency PTI.

The announcement comes as the carmaker delivered 108 units of its e-Vitara in a single day at a customer handover event in Hyderabad, marking a milestone in its electric mobility journey.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales), said the company has outlined plans in its mid-term strategy to expand its EV portfolio and cater to multiple segments. He added that Maruti Suzuki aims to become a leading player in the battery-electric vehicle (BEV) space by 2031.

On pricing, Banerjee said the company may increase vehicle prices due to rising commodity costs, though the extent of the hike will be announced later. He noted that exports stood at around 4.5 lakh units in the previous financial year, while the impact of the West Asia crisis on business is yet to be fully assessed.

The e-Vitara, manufactured at the company’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, is currently the highest exported BEV from India in FY26. More than 25,000 units have already been shipped to 44 countries, with plans to expand to over 100 markets.

To support EV adoption, Maruti Suzuki aims to establish a network of over one lakh public charging points across India by 2030. The company has already installed more than 2,000 dedicated charging points and developed a nationwide network of EV-ready service workshops backed by a trained workforce of around 1.5 lakh personnel.

The e-Vitara is Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle designed for both domestic and global markets.
