Global crisis: Pakistan Urges Ceasefire Extension After Failed US–Iran Talks

he failed peace talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad have triggered fresh diplomatic efforts, with Pakistan now urging both sides to extend the ongoing ceasefire. After 21 hours of intense negotiations ended without agreement, Pakistani officials appealed to Washington and Tehran to avoid escalation and continue dialogue. Reports suggest Pakistan has requested both nations to prolong the temporary 14-day ceasefire to maintain regional stability. Despite the setback, Pakistan defended its role as a mediator, stating it successfully brought both parties to the table and facilitated discussions. Officials emphasized that disagreements—particularly over nuclear commitments and control of the Strait of Hormuz—were beyond Pakistan’s control. The deadlock arose because neither side was willing to compromise on key demands. Pakistan remains hopeful that diplomacy will continue and has urged both countries to resume talks in the near future. The situation remains tense, but global stakeholders are pushing to prevent a return to conflict, highlighting the importance of sustained negotiations and restraint.
