ExtraEmily unbanned on Twitch just one day after distracted driving suspension

Twitch streamer ExtraEmily has been unbanned from the platform just one day after receiving a suspension over a distracted driving incident during one of her livestreams. The streamer’s channel is once again available after Twitch temporarily removed it for violating its Community Guidelines. The suspension came after a clip from her June 28 IRL stream went viral on social media, showing her looking away from the road while driving. Although no one was hurt and no crash happened, the incident quickly sparked criticism online and led to Twitch taking action against her account.

ExtraEmily returns to Twitch after one-day suspension over distracted driving

ExtraEmily’s Twitch suspension lasted for about 24 hours before the platform restored her account. Visitors can now access her channel again after it was briefly replaced with a notice stating that it was unavailable because of a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines. The ban followed a viral clip from an IRL livestream that showed ExtraEmily driving while making a left turn. During the moment, she appeared to look at her phone instead of keeping her eyes on the road. As another vehicle approached from the opposite direction, the driver honked, helping avoid what could have become a serious accident.Right after the incident, ExtraEmily admitted that the mistake was hers.“Oh, sorry! My bad! That was my bad. I’ve got to check my… whoopsies!” she said during the livestream. She also thanked the other driver for honking, saying it helped prevent a worse situation. No collision took place, and neither vehicle appeared to suffer any damage.

Viral driving clip brings back criticism over streaming behind the wheel

Later in the stream, ExtraEmily explained that she had been using her Tesla’s Autopilot earlier in the drive but had turned it off shortly before the incident. She added that she normally drives with Autopilot enabled and that they were almost at their destination when the close call happened.Twitch’s Community Guidelines clearly state that dangerous or distracted driving while interacting with a livestream is not allowed. The rules say that reading chat messages or using streaming equipment while driving in a way that takes a person’s eyes off the road or hands off the wheel is prohibited. The latest suspension also reminded many viewers of a similar incident involving ExtraEmily in April 2025. At that time, she received another one-day Twitch suspension after a livestream appeared to show her running a red light while looking at her phone. Following the latest incident, some streamers and viewers once again called for Twitch to introduce even stricter rules against livestreaming while driving.ExtraEmily’s account is now back online, but the incident has continued to fuel discussions about road safety and whether creators should livestream while operating a vehicle. While the suspension has ended, the conversation surrounding distracted driving on livestreams is unlikely to end anytime soon.
