Mercedes-Benz India on Thursday reported its highest-ever annual sales in FY26, with retail volumes reaching 19,363 units, as demand for higher-priced vehicles offset a decline in entry-level models.

The company sold 5,131 units in the January–March 2026 quarter, up 7 per cent from a year earlier.

Growth during the year was led by the top-end segment, which rose 16 per cent and accounted for 27 per cent of total sales. The segment includes models such as the S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach range, the EQS SUV, and the AMG portfolio.

In contrast, the entry luxury segment declined 18 per cent during the year, reflecting broader market conditions and pricing dynamics.

“Mercedes-Benz remains the most desirable luxury brand in India, buoyed by strong customer loyalty for both our new and existing products,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Benz India.

Electric vehicles and waiting periods

Battery electric vehicles accounted for 20 per cent of the company’s top-end sales in FY26.

Sales of top-end electric vehicles, priced above ₹1.4 crore, increased 85 per cent during the year, supported by demand for models such as the EQS SUV.

The company said waiting periods for certain models in the top-end segment range from four months to up to a year, including products such as the AMG G63 and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

The long-wheelbase E-Class continued as the highest-selling luxury car in the country.

Network expansion and product launches

Mercedes-Benz India plans to expand its retail network with more than 20 new outlets in 2026, backed by investments of over ₹450 crore from franchise partners.

New facilities are planned in markets such as Visakhapatnam, Varanasi and Goa, alongside expansion in existing cities including Pune and Mumbai.

The company also introduced two new AMG models in India, priced at ₹87 lakh and ₹1.52 crore respectively.

“Mercedes-Benz will maintain a sharp focus on superior product content and customer aspirations, reinforcing our strategy of value-led growth over volume aspirations,” Iyer said.
