Samay says Ranveer asked that ‘parent’ question 8 times on India’s Got Latent

Samay Raina reveals Ranveer Allahbadia asked that 'parent' question 8 times on India's Got Latent: 'Yeh toh bohot gandi baatein kari'

Samay Raina has addressed the India’s Got Latent controversy in his own trademark style—through humour. In his latest stand-up special, Samay Raina Still Alive, he candidly revisits the incident that sparked backlash after Ranveer Allahbadia posed a question that many viewers found inappropriate. During the set, Samay revealed that the question had actually been repeated multiple times.Talking about why he didn’t entirely remove the segment from the final cut, Samay joked, “Main tumhe maa ki kasam sach batata hoon. Uss episode main Beer Biceps ne voh sawal 8 baar poocha tha. Aur iske alawa bhi kayi ant shant sawal (rubbish) pooche the usne. Toh ab jab maine edit dekha na, maine kaha, ‘Yeh toh bohot gandi baatein kari hain isne.'”He further added, “‘Chalo ek rakh deta hoon, baaki sab hata deta hoon.’ Toh mere POV se maine toh 99 per cent kitaanu (germs) maar diye the na yaar.” His witty and self-aware take had the audience laughing, and clips from the special are now rapidly circulating online. While the special leans into humour, it’s worth noting that some elements may be exaggerated for comedic effect. Even so, fans have praised Samay for his honesty and how he chose to address the situation. Beyond the jokes, Samay also touched upon the aftermath of the controversy. He spoke about the guilt he experienced when fellow creators received death threats and legal notices, and shared how the situation deeply concerned his family, especially his parents.
