In a viral social media post, acclaimed Bollywood director Kunal Kohli has shared some unfiltered thoughts on the ongoing IPL 2026. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) during the clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Ekana Stadium, the Hum Tum and Fanaa director labeled both franchises as being among the most “boring” in the league.
His comments came during a relatively low-scoring encounter where LSG was bundled out for 141, and DC struggled early in their chase before eventually securing a six-wicket win.
“With due respect to some of the players I really like in #LSG & #DC these 2 teams are def amongst the most Boring #IPL teams,” wrote Kunal, who has directed films like ‘Hum Tum’ and ‘Fanaa’, on X.
With due respect to some of the players I really like in #LSG & #DC these 2 teams are def amongst the most Boring #IPL teams. A tough contender is #CSK – without my all time fav #MSDhoni – with #MSD I’ll watch net practice also. #IPL2026
Having said that always love #RCB #MI…— kunal kohli (@kunalkohli) April 1, 2026
The director also touched upon the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who are currently playing without their legendary talisman, MS Dhoni. The veteran wicketkeeper is sidelined due to a calf strain, leaving fans and pundits wondering about the team’s identity in his absence.
“A tough contender is #CSK – without my all time fav #MSDhoni – with #MSD I’ll watch net practice also. #IPL2026,” wrote Kunal.
While dismissing LSG and DC, the filmmaker revealed the teams that actually keep him glued to the screen: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He also mentioned a newfound interest in Rajasthan Royals (RR), specifically crediting the presence of young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for making their matches a must-watch.
“Having said that always love #RCB #MI #KKR & now #RR because of #VaibhavSanghvi (sic),” he wrote further.
