‘Whose Interests Are Served?’ Iran President Pezeshkian Writes to Americans Amid War

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has directly appealed to the American public, urging them to look beyond what he described as “a flood of distortions and manufactured narratives” surrounding the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran.

In an open letter, Pezeshkian questioned whether US President Donald Trump’s “America First” doctrine is genuinely serving the interests of American citizens.

‘Whose Interests Are Being Served?’

“Exactly which of the American people’s interests are truly being served by this war?” asked the Iranian President.

He sharply criticised the humanitarian consequences of the conflict, asking whether “the massacre of innocent children” and the destruction of critical infrastructure, including cancer-treatment pharmaceutical facilities, justified the ongoing campaign.

Rejects ‘Threat’ Narrative, Warns of Fallout

The Iranian president rejected portrayals of Tehran as an aggressor, noting that Iran had been attacked during ongoing diplomatic efforts, including multilateral nuclear negotiations.

He pointed to two instances, Israel’s 12-day military campaign in June 2025, briefly joined by the US, and another escalation earlier this year, as examples of attacks occurring amid talks.

“Attacking Iran’s vital infrastructure… directly targets the Iranian people,” he said, calling such actions not only a war crime but also a trigger for wider instability.

“They generate instability, increase human and economic costs, and perpetuate cycles of tension… This is not a demonstration of strength; it is a sign of strategic bewilderment,” he added.

Comes Hours After Trump’s Fresh Threat

The letter was released just hours after Trump escalated his rhetoric, warning that the US would continue “blasting Iran into oblivion” unless the Strait of Hormuz is reopened.

Trump also claimed that Iran’s “new regime president” had sought a ceasefire, an assertion swiftly denied by Iranian officials.
