Addressing a rally in Gogamukh, he said, “Implementing the Uniform Civil Code in Assam while safeguarding the culture and traditions of our tribal communities in the Sixth Schedule areas is about preserving Assam’s identity. These are major commitments, and as you know, the BJP delivers on what it promises.”
The emphasis on balancing legal uniformity with constitutional protections for tribal communities signals a calibrated political message, especially in regions governed under the Sixth Schedule. The party is positioning the UCC not as a one-size-fits-all reform but as a framework that accommodates Assam’s diverse socio-cultural fabric.
Hat-Trick Pitch Backed By Development Narrative
The Prime Minister also struck a confident note on the BJP-led NDA’s electoral prospects in the state, asserting continued public support after a decade in power. “With the blessings of all of you, I received the opportunity to achieve a hat-trick as Prime Minister. With your blessings, I also received the opportunity to hit a hat-trick on this ground. I have come here for the third time. And with your blessings, the government in Assam is also going to achieve a hat-trick.”
Framing the upcoming election as a stepping stone towards a larger national vision, he added, “This time election is to be make Viksit Bharat… The BJP will form government again in Assam and make a hat-trick.” The remarks come as campaigning intensifies ahead of polling scheduled for April 9.
Welfare Delivery & Governance Take Spotlight
Highlighting the NDA government’s performance, Modi pointed to welfare schemes and governance reforms over the past ten years. The Prime Minister underscored that more than 22 lakh economically weaker families in Assam have received permanent housing during this period, presenting it as evidence of a shift towards what he described as ‘seva’ and ‘sushasan’.
He said the past decade marked a “new dawn” for the state, with visible improvements in infrastructure, welfare delivery, and administrative efficiency.
Tea Garden Outreach Adds Grassroots Connect
Ahead of the rally, Modi visited a tea estate in Dibrugarh, interacting with workers and participating in tea leaf plucking. Sharing his experience, he wrote, “Tea is the soul of Assam! The tea from here has made its way across the world. This morning in Dibrugarh, I went to a tea garden and interacted with women working here. It was a very memorable experience.”
He further added, “We are very proud of the efforts of each and every tea garden family. Their hard work and perseverance have enhanced Assam’s pride,” and noted, “The plucking of tea leaves was followed by the women talking about their culture and of course, a selfie!”
The outreach is seen as part of a broader effort to connect with key voter groups, particularly tea garden workers, who remain an influential demographic in Assam’s electoral landscape.
