Actors Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway brought the fashion and runway drama to Mexico as they kicked off promotions for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’. The ladies, dressed their best in shades of black and red as they arrived for a sit-down event, where they talked about their move, fashion, turning the streets of New York into their sets and ofcourse, falling down the stairs.

The co-stars shared light-hearted moments from their time filming, reminiscing about on-set mishaps and unexpectedly became social media memes. During the interaction, Hathaway recalled her fall that went viral on social media, while shooting on the streets of Manhattan. “It was our last shot on the streets. We were shooting for 6 weeks and I raced across Manhatten in heels and I hadn’t fallen. It was the last shot and it happened, gravity was on that day,” she said, drawing laughter from the audience.

Joining in, Streep revealed she had her own fall, though in a very different setting. “I fell down too. I fell on the red carpet at the Met Gala,” she said, referencing the high-profile fashion event that will feature in the film.Hathaway quickly added, “Nobody posted that,” prompting further amusement.However, fans were quick to fish out the video and were surprised to note that the actress really fell while shooting on the Met Gala stairs. Streep also shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes detail about her wardrobe winning over the fashion police. She explained, “When you shoot on the streets, they put a bath robe over you, to cover your costume so that you don’t spill your pizza on it on the way. The first day I came out of my trailer, I was wearing this peach coloured robe.” The Oscar-winning actor laughed while recalling how the robe unintentionally became a talking point in fashion circles with several magazines even reviewing her look.

Later the same evening, the leading ladies brought their fashion A-game to black carpet. This time, alternating the shades of black and red, the two had fans hooting and cheering as they walked the runway in fashion-forward ensembles and blew kisses to fans. Mexico is the first leg of the promotional tour that is also expected to make stops in Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, New York and London.

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ cast and release date

The film sees Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway returning to screens as Miranda and Andy almost 20 years after making their iconic turn. They will be joined by Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci as Emily and Nigel as they take over Runway Magazine. The film reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel and introduces an all-new runway of characters, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as “Lily” and “Irv” from the first film. ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ will release in cinemas on 1 May 2026. Go to Source
