‘War 2’ ends 2nd week with Rs 229 crore haul

'War 2' box office collection Day 14: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani starrer fails to pick up pace on Ganesh Chaturthi holiday; ends 2nd week with Rs 229 crore haul

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, has officially wrapped up its second week at the box office, but the film continues to struggle to to keep up its momentum. Despite the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday across several regions on Wednesday, the film failed to see a surge in collections, leaving its overall performance rather underwhelming.War 2 Movie Review

Day 14 collections

On its second Wednesday, ‘War 2’ saw a minimal dip in collections, earning an estimated Rs 2.50 crore net across all languages, according to early reports on sacnilk. This marks only a slight dip from its previous weekday earnings, of Rs 2.75 crore net, suggesting that the festival holiday had little impact on driving audiences back into theatres.

Week 1 vs Week 2

The film’s opening week set an impressive tone, collecting Rs 199.5 crore net during the extended Independence Day holiday. However, the second week has seen the film earning just around Rs 30.5 crore over the past seven days. While steep declines are typical in the second week, the scale of the fall has raised serious questions about the film’s long-term box office trajectory, considering its reported Rs 400 crore budget.

India gross and worldwide collections

After 14 days, ‘War 2’ has managed to reach an estimated Rs 229.5 crore net in India, with an all-India gross of around Rs 271.5 crore. Overseas markets, particularly driven by Jr NTR’s strong fan base in the US and other international regions, have contributed around Rs 76 crore gross, taking the worldwide total to an estimated Rs 347.5 crore.

Regional breakdown

The Hindi version remains the largest contributor, delivering around Rs 172.14 crore net, but has clearly underperformed when compared to expectations from a Hrithik Roshan-led Spy Universe film. The Telugu dubbed version, buoyed by Jr NTR’s star power, has added approximately Rs 55.66 crore net, while the Tamil version lags far behind with just Rs 2 crore net. The uneven regional performance underlines how the film has struggled to appeal uniformly across markets. ‘War 2’ now enters its third weekend at the box office. While the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday failed to provide the much-needed boost, the film now faces an uphill task to sustain screens and footfalls. Unless it shows an extraordinary hold in the coming days. According to reports, the film may just fall short of box office hit, despite its star-studded cast and franchise value. Go to Source
