Hyundai Motor India on Friday launched the updated Exter compact SUV in India at a starting price of ₹5.79 lakh (ex-showroom), as it looks to strengthen its position in the entry SUV segment.

The refreshed model comes with over 25 enhancements spanning design, technology, comfort and safety, aimed at improving overall value proposition and customer appeal.

“With its bold design and segment defining features, Hyundai Exter has played a pivotal role in reimagining the segment. Building on this strong foundation, the new Hyundai Exter embodies a reinvigorated spirit of ‘Drive to shine’, with refreshed styling, a more premium cabin, smarter connectivity and an enhanced safety package. The new Hyundai EXTER reaffirms HMIL’s commitment to delivering world class technology, superior safety and a reliable SUV for young and ambitious India,” said Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO, Hyundai India.

The new Exter features a refreshed exterior with a redesigned front fascia, updated grille and new alloy wheels, enhancing its road presence. The company claims it remains the tallest SUV in its segment with the longest wheelbase, offering improved cabin space.

Inside, the SUV features a dual-tone interior theme, a redesigned dashboard with a 3D carbon-finish, and new seat upholstery. Additional features, such as a folding driver’s armrest and adjustable rear headrests, aim to improve comfort.

Features on board

Hyundai has strengthened its technology offering with features such as a segment-first dashcam, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and over 60 connected-car features through its BlueLink platform. The model also includes a digital cluster, an electric sunroof, a rear Type-C USB port, and over-the-air updates, enhancing convenience and connectivity.

The Exter continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, available with both manual and AMT transmission options. The company highlighted that it remains the only model in its segment to offer a 4-cylinder petrol engine.

The SUV is also available with a bi-fuel CNG option featuring a dual-cylinder setup, designed to optimise boot space while offering practicality for daily use.

Safety remains a key focus area, with the Exter offering over 45 safety features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) as standard across variants.

The updated Exter is available in multiple variants and colour options, with bookings open at Hyundai dealerships and online.
