Renault said that no major challenges have been identified for its cars currently operating with E20 fuel, even in vehicles originally certified for E10 compliance.Renault on Wednesday said it has issued a clarification on the use of E20 fuel in vehicles certified for E10, following customer concerns. The company stated that its Triber 2022 model was tested and certified under the then prevailing E10 fuel norms for type approval and production tests.
Findings from joint study
In response to queries, Renault referred to a study conducted jointly by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The study, which involved durability testing on different fuel blends, examined the use of E20 fuel in vehicles originally certified for E10. The draft report of the study, circulated to all original equipment manufacturers through a Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas letter, concluded that present on-road vehicles are compatible with E20 fuel. It stated that no adverse impact was observed from the use of E20 in E10-certified vehicles.
