Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ to be reviewed tomorrow

'Jana Nayagan' censor row: Revising committee to watch Thalapathy Vijay’s film on THIS date

Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ faces a revised censor screening on March 17th after earlier postponements. This crucial step follows court intervention and ongoing certification delays, which have also impacted the film’s OTT deal. High expectations surround the movie, potentially Vijay’s last before his political focus, as fans await a release date post-certification.

‘Jana Nayagan,’ featuring Thalapathy Vijay, has been mired in a drawn-out censor dispute, pushing back its on-screen debut. The film was initially expected to hit theatres earlier this year, but certification issues forced the makers to approach the court. Although a single-judge bench briefly cleared the path, fresh complications further delayed the release plans. A recent update about the revising committee, however, has now brought some relief to the team and fans.

Revising committee to watch ‘Jana Nayagan’ on March 17

The production house recently received an official email from the censor authorities regarding the next stage of the certification process. Initially, the revising committee was scheduled to watch the film on March 9 at 2 PM. The change was seen as an advancement that worked to resolve the censor’s problem that was stopping the film for some weeks. Nevertheless, the March 9 screening date was postponed, and later, it was rescheduled due to some administrative reasons. According to Valai Pechu, the revising committee has now fixed March 17 as the new date to watch and review the film.

Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan: Remake or Original? The Real Story

Once the committee watches the movie and communicates its decision, the makers are expected to quickly complete the remaining formalities required for certification. The production team is reportedly keeping everything ready so that the film can move toward release as soon as the certificate is granted.

OTT deal complications add to the delay

Apart from the censorship hurdles, the film has also reportedly faced complications regarding its OTT deal. According to industry sources, the delay in receiving the censor certificate affected negotiations with the streaming platform that planned to acquire the digital rights. Since OTT platforms usually finalise agreements only after certification clarity, the uncertainty created temporary setbacks in closing the deal. The makers are now hopeful that once the revising committee clears the film, the OTT agreement will also be finalised quickly. With both the censor issue and digital deal expected to move forward soon, the team believes the film’s overall release plan can finally fall into place.

High expectations around Vijay’s film

The buzz surrounding ‘Jana Nayagan’ is extremely high, especially because the film is widely believed to be Vijay’s final movie before he focuses fully on his political journey. The film also features Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Priyamani in key roles. After a few bumps in their way in recent weeks, the fans are all set to find out the result of the CBFC revising committee. After the censorship is sanctioned, expect the production house to announce a formal release date to end the long speculation. Go to Source
