Shreya secretly watched SRK’s Fauji during music lessons

Shreya Ghoshal secretly watched Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fauji’ during music lessons, reveals her Guru Mahesh Chandra Sharma

Shreya Ghoshal was shocked as her guru Mahesh Chandra Sharma shared how she ditched music classes to watch Fauji and Ramayan at his home. “Kids are naughty,” he laughed, praising her sincerity. An emotional letter from young Shreya moved the set. Fauji launched SRK’s iconic career in 1989.

Famous singer Shreya Ghoshal was shocked when her guru, Mahesh Chandra Sharma, a guest on a singing reality show, shared a fun childhood secret about her. While praising Shreya, Guruji pointed out her playful side. He explained how she would sneak from music classes as a child to the living room of his house to watch ‘Fauji’ and ‘Ramayan’ on TV with his family.

Shreya Ghoshal’s Guruji shares fond memories

Recalling those memories, he said, “Shararti toh bachche thode se hote hi hain. Jaise mere saath seekhne aati thi, do-dhai ghante ki class hum lete the. Beech mein, main neeche paani peene jaate the, toh neeche Fauji serial ya Ramayan ya Mahabharat ghar wale dekhte rehte the, toh yeh bhi thodi der baith jaati thi. Phir hamari wife kehti thi, ‘Guru ji upar intezaar kar rahe hain…’ Lekin music mein bahut sincere thi.” (Children are naturally a little mischievous. When she used to come to learn from me, our class would last for about two to two-and-a-half hours. In between, when I would go downstairs to drink water, the family downstairs would be watching shows like Fauji, Ramayan, or Mahabharat, and she would sit there for a while watching them. Then my wife would say, ‘Guru ji is waiting upstairs…’ But when it came to music, she was very sincere)

Shreya Ghoshal’s emotional letter moment

The episode’s big moment arrived when host Aditya Narayan read a touching letter that young Shreya had written for her Guruji, moving everyone on the set to tears.

Fauji’s historic legacy

‘Fauji’, with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, left a big mark on Indian TV as the show that started his acting career. Out in 1989, it told the story of young army trainees facing challenges and quickly won fans across the country.
