Voting is currently underway for 11 seats of the Rajya Sabha across three Indian states, with the most intense contest emerging in Bihar. Out of the 11 seats, five are from Bihar, four from Odisha, and two from Haryana. While 26 candidates in other states have already been elected unopposed, these 11 seats are witnessing voting due to multiple candidates in the fray. In Bihar, the fifth seat has become the focus of a tight political contest between the ruling National Democratic Allianceand the opposition alliance led by Rashtriya Janata Dal. Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav was seen casting his vote at the state assembly as legislators lined up to participate in the polling process. Political tension has risen after reports that two legislators from the Indian National Congress were initially unreachable, raising concerns about possible cross-voting. The opposition bloc claims it has the required numbers after receiving support from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and the Bahujan Samaj Party. Meanwhile, leaders from the ruling alliance remain confident of securing all five seats in Bihar. Voting will continue until the afternoon, with counting scheduled later in the evening. The results are expected to determine whether the closely contested fifth seat tilts toward the ruling bloc or the opposition alliance.
