Supriya Pathak on bonding with Shahid’s wife Mira

Supriya Pathak opens up on bonding with step son Shahid Kapoor's wife Mira Rajput: 'Never felt like she's a daughter-in-law'

Actors Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem separated when their son Shahid Kapoor was just three years old. A few years later, he tied the knot with Supriya Pathak. While Kapur is regarded as one of the most respected actors in the industry, Shahid has also attained stardom and his own niche which is unparalled. Over the years, this Kapoor family has become one of the most loved families as fans truly admire the bond that they share despite complex family dynamics. Shahid and Mira both share great rapport with Supriya and in a recent interview, the ‘Khichdi’ actress has opened up on their bonding. Supriya spoke about Mira and how the family welcomed her when she married Shahid at the age of 20 in Delhi. She shared that Mira never felt like someone new entering the family because everyone naturally saw her as one of their own. Shahid and Mira have been married for more than a decade and are parents to two children, Misha and Zain.

Supriya said in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, “Mira is such a beautiful person, inside and out, that we never felt like she walked in to our house. I think she was a part of our house. I sometimes joke with her that you were our missing child who has found her way back to us. I never felt like she was a daughter-in-law. I can’t think this way about Mira.”Supriya and Pankaj are parents to daughter Sanah and son Ruhaan, and she explained that she has always preferred a friendly relationship with her children rather than trying to strictly guide them. “I didn’t guide them in any way but I was there for them, always,” she said.Talking about Shahid and Mira’s children, Supriya fondly described her grandchildren as “the best.” She added with a smile, “When they are both around, the world is great.” Sanah, who was also present during the conversation, shared that Misha often enjoys chatting with Supriya about her daily life. “Misha loves to gossip with mom. She comes to mom and tells her whatever is going on in her life,” Sanah added. In an earlier conversation with Punjab First Voice, Pankaj Kapur revealed that Shahid and Mira’s marriage was arranged through the spiritual organisation Radha Soami Satsang Beas. “That’s how it was organised. I don’t want to reveal too much about this topic… Yes, two families were introduced to each other, with the intention of getting Shahid and Mira to tie the knot,” he said.During the same interview, Pankaj spoke warmly about Mira, calling her a “wonderful child.” He said, “She is more like my daughter than a daughter-in-law.” Supriya added, “We are very blessed to have her; she’s the one who brought the family together.”
