Yugi Sethu reveals Kamal Haasan’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ PAY PACKAGE

Yugi Sethu reveals Kamal Haasan’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ PAY PACKAGE; the 'Indian' actor stands among India’s highest-paid stars

Director Yugi Sethu revealed Kamal Haasan’s substantial pay package for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, estimating his daily earnings at nearly two million dollars for his brief appearance. While the actor is reportedly set to receive around Rs 150 crore for the sequel, filming is progressing with Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan involved in key scenes.

The sequel of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has again become a hotly debated issue after the film’s director and actor, Yugi Sethu, disclosed a curious fact regarding Kamal Haasan and his presumed payments for the movie. The original film, helmed by Nag Ashwin, hit theaters in 2024 and had excellent box office performance; the numbers suggest a worldwide gross of Rs 1100 crore. The film starred amazing actors such as Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, while Kamal Haasan made a guest appearance as Supreme Yaskin, the antagonist.

Yugi Sethu’s surprising salary claim

As preparations for ‘Kalki 2’ continue, discussions about the film’s scale and its star cast have grown stronger. Speaking about Kamal Haasan’s earnings, Yugi Sethu claimed that the veteran actor is currently among the highest-paid stars in India. In an interview with Indiaglitz, he recalled a moment during Kamal Haasan’s birthday celebration when he told the actor that he was probably the highest-paid actor in the country. According to Yugi Sethu, he estimated that Kamal Haasan’s earnings from the film could be close to one million dollars per day, based on the 20 days allotted for the shoot.

The producer’s reply adds another twist

Yugi Sethu further shared that Kamal Haasan immediately took him to meet the film’s producer, C. Aswani Dutt. When Yugi Sethu repeated his claim to the producer, Aswani Dutt reportedly clarified that Kamal Haasan had given only around ten days of call sheets for the project. Based on that information, Yugi Sethu joked that the actor’s daily earnings would actually work out to nearly two million dollars. Reports suggest that Kamal Haasan will receive around Rs 150 crore for the sequel, although the makers have not officially confirmed the figure.

The sequel shoot is progressing at full swing

Meanwhile, filming for the sequel is currently underway in the Shankarpally area of Hyderabad, with key scenes featuring Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan recently shot. In the first part, Kamal Haasan appeared only for a few minutes as Supreme Yaskin, but the character is expected to have a much larger presence in the second installment. Taking place in the year 2898 AD and woven around a mythological concept, ‘Kalki’ is said to be one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious projects, incorporating science fiction. Go to Source
