Priyanka Chopra Jonas denies ‘Citadel’ season 2 reshoots

Priyanka Chopra Jonas denies 'Citadel' Season 2 reshoots: 'We picked up where we left off'

Citadel Season 2 is officially confirmed and in production despite the cancellation of its international spin-offs. Priyanka Chopra Jonas confirms the core series wasn’t significantly altered, with filming wrapping in November 2024. The new season, expected this summer, follows Mason and Nadia as they face Manticore agents and a Brazilian billionaire, picking up about a month after season 1’s events.

‘Citadel’ is still moving forward with Season 2, even after its two international spinoffs were canceled. Priyanka Chopra Jonas says the new season has already been filmed and remains on the way, pushing back on online talk that the show had to be rebuilt after the franchise plans shrank.

‘Citadel’ Season 2 update following spinoff cancellations

As reported by Screen Rant, Priyanka Chopra Jonas spoke with The Playlist about the show’s status and the reshoot rumors. Chopra said, “No, I don’t think there were major changes. I think we picked up where we left off in season one. But there were incredible additions, which you will see coming up. Joe Russo directed most of it himself as well. So having his expertise on the set was just great.”

Season 2 was confirmed soon after the 2023 debut of ‘Citadel’. Two international offshoots followed, ‘Citadel: Diana’ and ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, but both were later canceled. Those shutdowns raised questions about whether the main series would continue and whether Season 2 had been reworked to connect to the scrapped titles.

What to expect from ‘Citadel’ Season 2?

The story is expected to resume about a month after the Season 1 finale. Mason, played by Richard Madden, and Nadia, played by Chopra-Jonas, are being hunted by Manticore agents. They must work together to take down a Brazilian billionaire named Paulo Braga.Season 1 drew mixed reviews, with some critics calling the series too generic. It currently holds a 51 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. At the same time, viewership was strong, even as the show’s cost became part of the conversation. The six-episode first season reportedly carried a budget of about $300 million, setting a high bar for what success needed to look like.Filming for Season 2 reportedly wrapped in November 2024, and the new season is expected to arrive this summer on Prime Video. There is still no word on Season 3.
