Suniel says he doesn’t watch match when KL Rahul is playing

Suniel Shetty says he doesn't watch cricket matches when KL Rahul is playing: 'He's my child, I get anxious'

Suniel Shetty is a very supportive and protective father and that’s evident every time he talks about his kids Ahan Shetty, Athiya Shetty and son-in-law KL Rahul. Suniel announced during the release of Ahan’s film ‘Border 2’ that he will not watch it, till it crosses Rs 500 crore at the box office. The actor is still adamant about his decision. He said that he has still not watched the movie and also revealed he doesn’t watch any cricket match when KL Rahul is playing even though he is a huge cricket fan. The actor said in an interview with ABP News talking about ‘Border 2’, “Because I had decided long ago, even before the film, that since it’s a patriotic film, it should definitely cross Rs 500 crore. And I had set it in my mind that I will watch it only after that.”

Akshaye Khanna & Suniel Shetty Reunite in Border 2 Post-Credits; Fans Left Emotional

According to figures reported by Sacnilk, ‘Border 2’ has so far earned approximately Rs 447 crore worldwide. Remaining optimistic, Suniel added, “I think, for a father’s love, God will ensure we reach the Rs 500 crore mark.” Emphasising his emotional commitment to the decision, he said, “It was just a thought, an emotion, and I have stuck to it. And just so you know, I haven’t seen a single frame of the film yet.”During the same interaction, Suniel drew an interesting comparison between the film and his son-in-law, Indian cricketer KL Rahul. Much like his approach to ‘Border 2’, Suniel admitted that he avoids watching Rahul play live matches. “I don’t watch matches at all. Even though I’m an avid cricket fan, I just don’t watch. I don’t even listen to commentary, but I understand what’s happening from my wife, who’s watching and reacting in the next room. I do watch highlights later, because by then everything has settled, otherwise, I get extremely anxious. He’s my child, and we just want him to do well,” he shared. He further explained the emotional toll of public scrutiny, adding, “It’s also because of the age of constant commentary. The comments made on you never affect you, but the ones made on our children have an impact. From that point of view, I don’t watch the game live.”
