Lil Jon's 27-year-old son Nathan Smith's cause of death revealed after body found in pond

The cause of death of Lil Jon’s son, Nathan Smith, has been officially confirmed weeks after his body was recovered from a nearby pond. Nathan was found dead at the age of 27, after reportedly going missing on February 3. Professionally known as DJ Young Slade, his body was found three days later, on February 6, by divers with the Cherokee County Fire Department who recovered his body from a nearby retention pond. At the time, authorities described his death as “unusual circumstances”.

Nathan Smith’s cause of death revealed

However, on Friday, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office released its official findings on the case and ruled the cause of death as “drowning in the setting of psilocybin use.” According to an autopsy report obtained by People, the manner of death has been classified as an “accident”. However, the report goes to state that Nathan’s blood sample tested positive for psilocybin, a pharmacologically active hallucinogenic compound found in certain mushrooms. Previously, officials confirmed that Nathan’s body showed no signs of foul play.

Lil Jon’s statement on son’s death

In a statement to TMZ, Lil Jon expressed his family’s grief over the loss. “I am extremely heartbroken for the tragic loss of our son, Nathan Smith. His mother, Nicole Smith, and I are devastated. Nathan was the kindest human being you would ever meet. He was immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate, and warmhearted – he loved his family and the friends in his life to the fullest,” he said.The rapper added, “He was an amazingly talented young man; a music producer, an artist and engineer, and graduate of NYU. We loved Nathan with all of our hearts and are incredibly proud of him. He was loved and appreciated, and in our last times together we’re comforted in knowing that we expressed that very sentiment to him.”

Police rule out foul play

The Milton Police Department previously stated there was no indication of foul play, but went on to open a death case until investigations were completed. Go to Source
