‘War 2’ FAILS to cross Rs 225 crore mark on 2nd Monday

'War 2' box office collection Day 12: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani starrer sees another big drop on Monday; lags behind 'Coolie' with Rs 224.5 crore collection

The much-hyped about film ‘War 2’, headlined by Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, is facing a sharp downturn in its box office journey. On its second Monday, the film’s earnings slipped drastically, collecting just about Rs 2.25 crore net across all languages, according to early estimates by sacnilk.com. This marks a steep fall from its weekend numbers, just when the film seemed to show signs of recovery.War 2 Movie Review

Week 1 vs Week 2 performance

‘War 2’ opened with an extended weekend collection of Rs 175.75 crore net, cementing its place as one of the strongest openers of the year. However, the momentum has not sustained into the second week. By the end of Week 2, the film had managed only Rs 17.75 crore. With this, the film had a staggering drop of Rs 158 crore compared to its first week haul. While dips in the second week are common, such a drastic decline has raised concerns over the film’s long-term prospects.

India vs Worldwide box office

The film’s India net collection now stands at Rs 224.15 crore, with an all-India gross of around Rs 265.15 crore. On the global front, overseas markets have contributed an estimated Rs 75 crore, taking the worldwide gross total to approximately Rs 340.15 crore.

Regional breakdown

The film’s performance remains uneven across languages. The Hindi version continues to lead with Rs 167.4 crore, while the Telugu market, fuelled by Jr NTR’s massive popularity, added a solid Rs 54.8 crore. In contrast, the Tamil version brought in only Rs 1.95 crore, highlighting its limited regional reach.

Coolie maintains lead

While crossing the Rs 200 crore milestone in just over a week is impressive, the steep fall in collections and stark regional disparity has sparked buzz that the flm has not quite matched the towering expectations of the ambitious Spy Universe.Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s film ‘Coolie’ has maintained its lead at the box office. The film has crossed the Rs 260 crore mark in India and is on its way to the Rs 300 crore mark. Should it be able to hit the milestone, it will become on the third release of the year to cross the mark after ‘Saiyaara’ and ‘Chhaava’. Go to Source
