Inside Rajinikanth’s spiritual journey

Spiritual side of Rajinikanth: Temples the superstar frequently visits

Beyond his on-screen charisma, Rajinikanth embraces a deeply spiritual life, prioritizing sacred pilgrimages over luxury. He regularly visits revered temples like Tirupati and the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, marking significant personal and professional milestones. His annual Himalayan retreats, involving meditation and simple living, underscore his commitment to inner peace and detachment.

On screen, Rajinikanth may play larger-than-life characters with irresistible swagger, deliver punch dialogues, and perform gravity-defying stunts, but off it, he is a completely different person. The Thalaivar is deeply spiritual and would choose a grounding pilgrimage over a lavish getaway any day. Despite a demanding schedule, the superstar sets aside time to visit places of worship. Spiritual retreats are his way of inner reflection and peace. From offering prayers at revered temples to commemorate milestones in his personal and professional life to setting aside time for annual spiritual retreats, Rajinikanth continues to prioritize faith over stardom. Take a look.

Tirupati temple

Superstar Rajinikanth often visits the Tirumala temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The actor has been to the temple multiple times, especially on special days in his life. In December 2025, as he turned 75, the superstar sought blessings from Lord Venkateswara. He marked the occasion by offering prayers at the temple. He was accompanied by his wife, Latha; daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya; and his grandson.

Badrinath Dham

Every year, superstar Rajinikanth takes some days off to set out on a pilgrimage. Last year (2025), the actor visited the sacred Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand. Badrinath is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the site attracts thousands of devotees every year. The superstar offered prayers to Lord Badri Vishal ahead of the temple’s winter closure in 2025.In 2023, Rajinikanth visited the Dham after the release of his film ‘Jailer’.

Himalayan retreat

Rajinikanth’s annual Himalayan retreat is all things spiritual. From eating humble meals served on a pattal (a disposable plate made of dried leaves) to meditating in the mountains and dining with monks, Rajinikanth’s pilgrimage is all about detachment, discipline, and reconnecting with his soul. In 2025, during his Himalayan retreat, Rajinikanth visited the Swami Dayananda Ashram and meditated along the sacred Ganga River. He also participated in the spiritual Ganga Aarti ritual. After Rishikesh, he visited the hill towns of Dwarahat and Kedarnath, as well as Mahavatar Babaji’s cave, where he meditated. The soulful sojourn has now become a part of his annual routine.Rajinikanth, known for his simplicity, follows an absolutely ordinary man’s life when he steps away from the spotlight, and his spiritual trips are proof.Meanwhile, on the professional front, Rajinikanth will next be seen in a film tentatively titled ‘KHxRK’, in which he will be sharing the screen with Kamal Haasan. The superstars are reuniting after 47 years. The film is helmed by ‘Jailer’ director Nelson Dilipkumar. Go to Source
