Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Sunday issued a voluntary recall for 969 units of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in India. The recall covers vehicles manufactured between September 4, 2024 and September 30, 2025.

The company said that the campaign relates to a potential issue in the Transmission Control Computer software, which manages transmission functions.

According to the company, the SUV is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission that uses linear solenoids to control gear shifts. Under certain driving conditions, if a solenoid failure occurs, the transmission control unit and the engine ECU may not communicate the failure properly due to the software issue.

This could lead to transmission over-revving in specific gears, potentially resulting in transmission damage and loss of motive power at higher speeds. In rare cases, damage to the transmission housing may also lead to leakage of transmission fluid.

Similar recall for Lexus LX

Toyota has also initiated a similar recall for the Lexus LX, which shares the same 10-speed automatic transmission unit as the Land Cruiser 300.

The corrective measure involves reprogramming the transmission control software. Authorised dealers will contact affected customers directly to carry out the necessary update. Customers may also reach out to their nearest Toyota dealership or the company’s customer assistance centre for further information.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 is currently priced from ₹2.15 crore in India. It is powered by a 3.3-litre V6 turbo diesel engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, producing 304 hp and 700 Nm of torque.
