Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited has started production of the new Škoda Kushaq at its Chakan plant in Pune. The company said the model continues its role as the first vehicle developed under the India 2.0 strategy and supports its localisation and manufacturing goals in India.

The updated Kushaq features a rear-seat massage function, a panoramic sunroof, and an 8-speed torque-converter transmission.

It also retains up to 40 active and passive safety features and a 5-star safety rating for both adult and child occupants.

The Kushaq was the first product designed specifically for India under the Group’s project and continues to contribute to its production and export plans.

Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics at Škoda Auto, said the start of production highlights India’s integration into the company’s global manufacturing network and its role as a growth market and export base.

Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, said the new Kushaq remains central to the company’s plan to offer European engineering at scale for Indian families while adding features requested by customers.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director at Škoda Auto India, said the Kushaq has been an important model for the brand in India and will continue to support its product expansion and network growth.

The Kushaq has contributed to the Group’s sales performance in India, which reached 117,000 units in 2025. The new version was unveiled in January 2026, and deliveries will begin in March, supported by strong pre-booking numbers.
