Country knows you are naked, why strip: PM Modi on Congress protest at global AI summit

MEERUT/NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi on Sunday said, “The country already knows you are naked, then what was the need for taking off your clothes,” lambasting Congress for using the global AI summit to display its “gandi and nangi (dirty and shameless)” politics before foreign guests, report Sandeep Rai & Kumar Rakesh. He also pinned the Youth Congress’s shirtless protest on the party’s “reckless and unbridled” leader, a pointed swipe at Rahul Gandhi. “The entire country was filled with pride (about the sumnmit) but what did Congress and its ecosystem do? Congress turned a global event of India into an arena of its dirty and naked politics,” he said. Modi pointed out that there were dissenting voices within the opposition bloc.In his first remarks on the Youth Congress’s unprecedented protests on Friday, Modi told a gathering in Meerut where he dedicated the entire 82-km Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the nation that the opposition party broke all norms without considering that it was a national event and not BJP’s.Did not everyone feel proud about the summit which drew representatives from the world over, including 20 heads of govt, he asked the supportive crowd before hitting out at Congress. “Entire country was filled with pride but what did Congress and its ecosystem do. Congress turned a global event of India into an arena of its dirty and naked politics. Congress members removed their clothes before foreign guests,” he said, adding that the party’s “reckless and unbridled” leader is bent on destroying the country in his quest to become PM. Modi further twisted the knife. “Congress broke all norms. It has become a burden for the country,” he said and named several other opposition parties like TMC, DMK, NC and BSP for not being part of this “sin” while Congress functionaries are glorifying the protestors unabashedly instead of feeling embarrassed about the incident which “shamed” the nation.Mentioning that Congress’s allies were criticising the party over its protests, he said Congress is unable to perform in Parliament and is not letting others perform as well. These parties have realised that they are the biggest victims of Congress’s antics, he said.
