2018 DEFAMATION CASE: Court Directs Congress Leader to Record Statement

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appeared today before the MP-MLA Court in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with a 2018 defamation case. The complaint was filed by BJP leader Vijay Mishra over a remark allegedly made by Rahul Gandhi against Amit Shah. The court had earlier granted multiple opportunities for appearance and has now described today’s hearing as the “final opportunity” for Gandhi to record his statement. The development has drawn significant political attention in the state. After receiving a grand welcome at Lucknow airport, Rahul Gandhi traveled by road to Sultanpur for the court proceedings. Congress leaders and supporters accompanied him, while party representatives are expected to present their stance on the matter. Live updates from the court premises are being closely followed as the case progresses.
