Janhit: Arrogance of Power? Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary Rejects Voters Over Road Demands

Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary has ignited a political controversy after declaring from a public stage, “I don’t want your vote,” in response to protestors demanding road repairs. The outburst occurred during a government event in Darbhanga, where his daughter, MP Shambhavi Choudhary, was also present. The protestors were raising slogans and waving banners about a broken road and a collapsed bridge in the Kusheshwar Asthan region. Despite Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laying the foundation stone in 2021, the road remains incomplete, and the bridge over the Kamla River has been unusable for over three years. Villagers claim they’ve been commuting by boat, facing immense hardship. When the protest interrupted the event, Ashok Choudhary lost his temper and publicly dismissed the protestors, saying he didn’t need their votes. This remark handed a fresh issue to the opposition, which has accused the ruling JDU of arrogance and ignoring public grievances. ABP News visited the affected area and found the road in a dilapidated state, confirming the villagers’ claims. The incident has sparked debates over political accountability, public protest, and the responsibilities of elected officials. In a democracy, asking for basic infrastructure shouldn’t be met with contempt — or a withdrawal of political responsibility.
