‘Red Label’ BO day 1: Lenin’s film makes only Rs 4 lakhs

'Red Label' box office collections day 1: Lenin's film starts slow; Makes only Rs 4 lakhs

New Tamil film ‘Red Label’ has stumbled at the box office, earning a meager Rs 4 lakhs on its opening day and a mere Rs 1 lakh on day two. Despite a strong performance from lead actor Lenin, critics note the movie relies heavily on familiar tropes, offering little surprise.

The new Tamil movie ‘Red Label’ has started with a very small box office number. On day 1, the film made just Rs 4 lakhs, which is a very low start for any new release. The film is made by director K. R. Vinoth and written by Pon Parthiban. Lenin and Azmin play the lead roles. The movie also has R. V. Udayakumar, Munishkanth, Anu Mohan and others in important roles.According to the Sacnilk website, the film made Rs 4 lakhs worldwide and the same amount in India.

Day wise collection shows a drop

The day wise numbers also show that the movie did not grow. The film made Rs 3 lakhs on day 1 and then just Rs 1 lakh on day 2, making the total Rs 4 lakhs. ETimes shared a review that explains how the movie feels. The review says, “Every Kollywood college film arrives pre-assembled: bully with political connections, righteous hero with a jawline, trembling students awaiting salvation. Red Label doesn’t so much build on this template as photocopy it.” The film follows a story about Kathir, played by Lenin. Kathir is a former college chairman who is staying quiet because of police cases. A timid student named Rohit comes to him for help because the MLA’s son Pandian is bullying students in the college, especially the girls. The story is simple and follows a pattern many people have already seen in Tamil films. Even though the movie’s story feels very familiar, one thing everyone seems to agree on is Lenin’s strong acting. The ETimes review says, “Lenin carries the film. He has the looks, the range and the screen presence to hold your attention throughout. If only the rest of the film matched his energy.” This means that Lenin does his part very well. He looks perfect for the role and keeps the audience watching. But the rest of the film does not rise to the same level. The review also adds, “Red Label has enough of a plot to keep you seated, but sits so comfortably in its template that it never once risks surprising you.” This means the story is okay, but it does not offer anything new or bold. With the box office numbers being so low, the film will need strong support in the coming days.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and data in this article are compiled from diverse public and industry sources.
