A major incident was reported from Mumbai’s Goregaon area, where hydrogen gas–filled balloons exploded inside a building lift at Anmol Tower. The accident occurred around 11 p.m. when a woman entered the lift with a suitcase, followed by two men, one of whom was carrying balloons. Within seconds, the balloons burst, causing a sudden blast and panic inside the lift. Three people sustained burn injuries and were immediately rushed to hospital. Fortunately, the lift doors were open at the time of the explosion; otherwise, the situation could have turned fatal. The entire incident was captured on the lift’s CCTV camera, and the footage has since surfaced. Police have registered a case against the balloon seller and initiated an investigation. Officials stated that hydrogen gas is highly inflammable and carrying such balloons in enclosed spaces like lifts can be extremely dangerous. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety and the unregulated sale of hydrogen-filled balloons in residential areas.
