Eklavya Jagal Scripts History With Double Bronze At Asian Open Short Track Trophy 2025

India’s rising winter sports talent, Eklavya Jagal, has once again made headlines—this time with a stellar double podium finish at the Asian Open Short Track Trophy 2025. The 18-year-old speed skating sensation clinched two bronze medals in Dehradun, adding another milestone to his growing list of achievements.

The championship, held from August 20 to 23 at the Himadri Ice Skating Rink, drew top athletes from across Asia. Competing against some of the fastest skaters in the region, Jagal delivered a breakthrough performance, recording new personal bests in both the 500m and 1000m races.

In the 500m sprint, he clocked a lightning-fast 44.144 seconds, while the challenging 1000m event saw him finish at 1:31.880 minutes—times that earned him bronze medals and further cemented his reputation as India’s top short track speed skater.

Jagal already holds the junior national records across all distances, along with the overall national record in the 1500m. His consistent rise in international competitions has brought new momentum to India’s rarely spotlighted winter sports scene, inspiring a new generation of athletes.

The young skater’s journey, however, is just beginning. Jagal is now preparing to make his mark at the Winter Olympics Qualifiers in Montreal, Canada, this October, where he will aim to book his ticket to the world’s most prestigious sporting stage.

“Eklavya’s remarkable achievement at the Asian Open Short Track Trophy is a testament to his hard work, talent, and unwavering spirit,” said a federation spokesperson, celebrating his achievement.

“His dedication is an inspiration, and we are incredibly proud of him for bringing these medals home. We wish him the very best for the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers.”

With the spotlight firmly on him, Jagal’s story is becoming a symbol of how talent, discipline, and determination can push Indian athletes beyond traditional sports boundaries. As he gears up for the Olympic qualifiers, the country will be watching eagerly and cheering louder than ever.
