Hasan Piker back on Twitch as platform shortens suspension to three days

Hasan Piker, also known as HasanAbi, has come back to Twitch after serving a suspension that lasted for three days. Initially, the streamer was supposed to serve a seven-day ban, but the period was reduced after he appealed the suspension. Twitch has not yet released an official reason for the suspension of the streamer, which is a common practice on the platform. The details of the enforcement are usually provided to the streamer privately, while the public statements are kept to a minimum. Hasan’s return to the platform has attracted a lot of attention, especially due to his massive following.According to reports, the suspension came as a result of comments Hasan made in a live stream, where he used the phrase “Zionist-pigs.” Although Twitch did not state that this was the reason for the suspension, it is likely that it contributed to the suspension. After considering the appeal, it appears that Twitch decided that the offense was not as severe as previously thought. This resulted in the suspension being reduced, which allowed Hasan to return to streaming earlier than expected.

Hasan Piker returns after appeal shortens Twitch ban

During the suspension, Hasan did not distance himself from live streaming. Instead, he relocated to YouTube and continued his usual political commentary and news-based live streams. This did not seem to affect his popularity. It is reported that his live streams on YouTube received good viewership, indicating that his fans followed him wherever he went. The YouTube live streams also created a considerable amount of financial support. During one of the Friday live streams, Hasan allegedly raised between $15,000 and $18,000 in donations. The donations were intended to be given to immigration advocacy groups, including the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights in Los Angeles. This action was consistent with his previous emphasis on political and social issues.Hasan Piker is one of the most popular political streamers on Twitch, recognized for his daily long-form streams that include commentary on current events, media analysis, and social issues. Prior to becoming a full-time streamer, he worked with The Young Turks, which contributed to his on-stream personality and audience.Ultimately, Hasan’s swift return demonstrates both the power he wields and the dynamic nature of Twitch’s moderation policy. This case also illustrates the increasingly difficult task that platforms face in attempting to balance enforcement, free speech, and user experience. Go to Source
