Norway Crown Princess says she regrets connection with Epstein whom she called ‘sweetheart’ in email: I showed poor judgement

Norway Crown Princess says she regrets connection with Epstein whom she called 'sweetheart' in email: I showed poor judgement

Norway Crown Princess Mette-Marit regretted her connection with Jeffrey Epstein as the 52-year-old’s past emails with Epstein were released by the DOJ on January 30.n Their communication continued from 2011 to 2014 and emails revealed a friendship between them. Mette-Marit, in one of her email, informed Epstein that she ‘Googles’ about him and “it did not look good”. But the correspondence continued. In 2012, Epstein wrote to the Crown Princess that he was on a wife hunt. “What is the weather like? I am on my wife hunt. Paris is proving interesting, but I prefer Scandinavians,” Epstein wrote.”Freezing [sic] Snow Yesterday,” Mette-Marit wrote back. “Paris good for adultery [sic] Scandis better wife material.” She added that “But then again [sic] Who am I to talk?”In other emails, the Crown Princess called Epstein charming and a sweetheart. In one, she asked Epstein if it was inappropriate for her as a mother to suggest two naked women carrying a surfboard for her 15-year-old son’s wallpaper.

‘I must take responsibility’

Crown Princess issued a statement taking responsibility for her action. She said it is embarrassing. “Jeffrey Epstein is solely responsible for his actions. I must take responsibility for not having investigated Epstein’s background more thoroughly, and for not realizing sooner what kind of person he was. I deeply regret this, and it is a responsibility I must bear. I showed poor judgment and regret having had any contact with Epstein at all. It is simply embarrassing,” the statement read. “I wish to express my deep sympathy and solidarity with the victims of the abuse committed by Jeffrey Epstein.”

Crown Princess’s son arrested

The Epstein scandal came at a time when the Crown Princess’s son will be facing a rape trial in Oslo on Tuesday. 29-year-old Marius Borg Høiby was arrested on Sunday on fresh charges of assault, a day before his rape trial. His arrest on Sunday is the fourth time he has been detained by police since August 2024, when he was accused of assaulting a woman he had been having a relationship with.Marius Borg Høiby is not a part of the Royal Family as he was born before Crown Princess got married to Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. Mette-Marit and Haakon have two children: Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus. Marius Borg Høiby is the son of one Morten Borg.
