Ravi Kishan: Can ‘call censor board’ for Jana Nayagan row

Amid Thalapathy Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' CBFC issue, Ravi Kishan says, 'I can definitely call the censor board'

In a bold move, actor and politician Ravi Kishan has stepped forward to tackle the censorship hurdles affecting Thalapathy Vijay’s movie ‘Jana Nayagan’. He encourages filmmakers to approach him directly so he can engage the Censor Board in case of any delays. Furthermore, Kishan intends to bring this issue to Parliament, championing a streamlined film certification process.

Thalapathy Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’ has been stuck in a legal battle with the Central Board of Film Certification. Amidst the controversy surrounding the film, actor-politician Ravi Kishan has come forward to say that if needed, he would call up Censor to check why the film has not been granted the certificate. Let’s take a look at what he has to say.

Ravi Kishan says the makers of ‘Jana Nayagan’ can call him anytime to look into the matter

In an interview with SCREEN, Ravi Kishan talked about the ‘Jana Nayagan’ censorship issue. He said, “I am hearing about this from you. Otherwise, I have not received any complaints. But being a parliamentarian, cinema people can approach me directly.”He went on to add that the makers of Vijay’s film can dial up him anytime. He said, “They can write to me or call me. If any film is stuck, I can definitely call the censor board.”

Ravi Kishan explains delays in film certification

During the same interview, Ravi Kishan elaborated on the reasons behind delays in film certification. He said, “What could be the reason for delays is that they have to scan multiple things in a film.” He further shared, “They have to ensure the language is appropriate, that no religious sentiments are hurt, and that real-life incidents are not misrepresented.”The actor-politician also stated that a lot goes into the certification process. He also added that the “real question is how many screenings the panel members can realistically conduct in a single day.”

Ravi Kishan says he will raise the issue in parliament

Ravi Kishan stated that he wants to tell the entire film fraternity that they can directly contact him. He said, “All this is happening while our government is in power, so it is my responsibility to take care of my fraternity. They don’t need to worry.” The actor didn’t stop there, as he further shared that he would be raising this issue in the parliament and discussing how to make the Censor Board bigger, better equipped, and faster at the certification process as well. He said, “I will personally speak with the Information Ministry.”
