US President Donald Trump lashed out at his onetime national security adviser John Bolton, calling him “a real sort of lowlife” after FBI agents raided Bolton’s Maryland home as part of an investigation into his handling of classified documents. Distancing himself from the case, Donald Trump said, “I’m not a fan of John Bolton… I know nothing about it. I just saw it this morning… You have to do what you have to do.”

The FBI operation took place at John Bolton’s residence in Bethesda, just outside Washington, the New York Post reported. FBI Director Kash Patel appeared to confirm the raid with a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.”

What Is The Probe Against John Bolton?

The probe reportedly centers on allegations that John Bolton mishandled classified material, particularly in connection with his 2020 memoir The Room Where It Happened. The book, which painted Donald Trump as erratic and unfit for office, prompted the White House to sue in an attempt to block its release on national security grounds- a legal effort that ultimately failed.

Since leaving the Donald Trump White House in 2019, John Bolton has been one of his fiercest critics, blasting his foreign policy as inconsistent and damaging to US interests. He has accused Donald Trump of adopting a “confused” approach towards India, warning that punitive tariffs risked driving New Delhi closer to Moscow and Beijing.

In an interview, he said, “Trump doesn’t have a philosophy, so there’s no legacy for his successors.” He also said that US policy under Donald Trump was “aberrational.”

John Bolton said, “Leaving India hanging out to dry as the only country to which punitive action has been taken obviously leads a lot of people to conclude that the United States has given up on India. I do worry that India is being driven closer to Russia and China.”
