Man caught in Canada for speeding in a car held together with a garden gate latch

A 22-year-old man has been caught in British Columbia, Canada after he was found overspeeding in a car that was held together by garden latch. The police did not release the name of the man but released the photo of the car giving the mana 10 on creativity and a 0 for legality. The car has also been confiscated while the man has been issued a ticket for excessive speed, the cost of a tow truck and a seven-day vehicle impound at his expense; high-risk driver premiums and escalating insurance costs for a minimum of three years; A Notice and Order requiring the vehicle’s removal from the road until all defects are fixed and the vehicle passes an inspection. The police release said it is not the first time that they came across a vehicle held together “with duct tape and wishful thinking” but using a garden door latch to close the door of a car was a rare creativity. The grey Acura was at 130 km/h in an 80 zone near Christina Lake when the cops stopped the car only to be stunned by the creativity. They also wondered why the car did not get disintegrated at that speed. “It’s amazing that this particular car could go that fast without disintegrating,” says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “The owner had put in some effort to hammer out the dents and spray paint the repairs, but his car was not roadworthy. It looked like it had been chewed up by Robosaurus.”The car had its rear window missing and was replaced with rebar and a duct tape and the driver’s door was locked using a welded latch. “Any time you modify an essential component of your vehicle including door locks, windows, steering, brakes, or suspension, you need to get that vehicle inspected,” says Corporal McLaughlin. “And if you’re driving in a vehicle that’s obviously not roadworthy, you probably shouldn’t speed. Police can’t ignore that.”
