Newsom says he has been barred from entering US pavilion at Davos, after he called Trump's address 'boring'

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s team claimed Wednesday that he was denied entry to an American venue at the World Economic Forum in Davos where he was scheduled to speak one-on-one with an editor of a media outlet. Newsom’s team said they were turned away when they arrived for a security check and were told that a “venue-level decision” had been made to not include an elected US official in the event’s program. “How weak and pathetic do you have to be to be this scared of a fireside chat?” Newsom wrote.Newsom was there in the crowd when Trump was speaking and he also mentioned Newsom. “We’re going to help the people in California,” Trump said. “We want to have no crime. I know Gavin was here. I used to get along so great with Gavin when I was president. Gavin is a good guy.” Trump added, “I would say this, if I were a Democrat governor, or whatever, I would call up Trump, I’d say, ‘Come on in. Make us look good.’”Speaking to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins afterward, Newsom said Trump’s address was “remarkably boring” and “remarkably insignificant.”“There wasn’t anything new about that speech for the American audience,” the governor added, adding that Trump was never going to invade Greeland. “I don’t think the military force was ever real in the first place, but I think the tone reflected deep anxiety” among business leaders present at the forum, Newsom said. Before Trump’s arrival, Newsom said attendees were rolling over for Trump and that he should have brought a bunch of kneepads for the world leaders. “I mean, handing out crowns, handing out – this is pathetic. Nobel Prizes that are being given away. I mean, it’s just pathetic. And I hope that people understand how pathetic they look on the world stage. I mean at least from an American perspective, it’s embarrassing,” he said.
