Prateek Yadav, son of Samajwadi Party founder late Mulayam Singh Yadav, on Monday accused his wife, BJP leader Aparna Bisht Yadav, of straining his relationship with the family and said he would soon move court seeking a divorce.Aparna Yadav currently serves as vice chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh state commission for women. In a lengthy post on his verified Instagram handle, Prateek Yadav described Aparna as a “family destroyer” and accused her of being self-centred and solely focused on gaining fame and influence.”I am going to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible. She ruined my family ties. All she wants is to become famous and influential. Right now, I am in a very bad mental health condition and she doesn’t bother because it’s only herself she bothers about,” he wrote under Aparna’s photo, adding, “I have never seen such a bad soul, and I was unfortunate to get married to her.” Prateek Yadav is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife, Sadhna Yadav. His stepbrother Akhilesh Yadav, former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, is the current chief of the Samajwadi Party. Prateek and Aparna tied the knot in 2011 at a grand ceremony held at his ancestral village Saifai in Etawah district.Aparna Yadav contested the 2017 UP Assembly elections on an SP ticket from Lucknow Cantt but lost to Congress candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi. She joined the BJP in March 2022 and actively campaigned for the party. She was appointed vice chairperson of the state women’s commission in September 2024. Neither the SP nor the BJP has issued any statement on the matter so far, reported PTI.(With inputs from PTI)
