When Kamal Haasan ‘baby sat’ Urvashi’s daughter!

Urvashi's daughter meets Kamal Haasan; recalls how superstar ‘babysat’ her on set - See PICS

Urvashi’s daughter, Teja Lakshmi, recently met legendary actor Kamal Haasan, a cherished childhood memory. Haasan once cared for a baby Teja on film sets. After a missed opportunity at an awards show, Teja finally had a brief but deeply meaningful reunion, fulfilling a long-held wish before her own film debut.

Veteran actor Urvashi’s daughter, Teja Lakshmi, recently met her mom’s co-star, Kamal Haasan. The starkid, who is all set to make her debut in films, was spellbound meeting the superstar. Interestingly, this is not the first time she has met Kamal Haasan.

Kamal Haasan used to carry her around the sets as a child

On Thursday, January 15, Teja Lakshmi dropped a couple of pictures of her recent meeting with Kamal Haasan. She recalled how she had anticipated the meeting, especially as she had grown up hearing stories of how Kamal Haasan used to carry her around the sets when she was a child. “It’s 2001. I’m a baby, and apparently, I was on the sets of the film Panchathanthiram with my mother. I’m told I wasn’t a cranky child most of the time, but on the days I was, Kamal sir would carry me around the sets and feed me my favourite snack so I wouldn’t cry. This is a story I’ve heard and known all my life, even though I don’t remember it myself, cuz I was just a baby then,” she said. Urvashi and Kamal Haasan have worked in multiple movies together including ‘Michael Madana Kama Rajan’, ‘Panchatanthiram’, and ‘Andha Oru Nimidam’.

A missed chance in 2025

Teja Lakshmi also shared that she almost missed a chance to chat with Kamal Haasan last year. During an award show, Kamal Haasan was seated next to her mom, Urvashi, and she was right beside her. She stole glances, but didn’t get a chance to say hi! “While she was also busy going up on stage, she kinda forgot to introduce me to him, and every other minute, I’d sneak a look at him, mentally preparing how I would go up and say hi. I was so scared that for some reason, I wouldn’t lie. He also had to leave the event early due to his busy schedule, and that day I actually cried.”Urvashi promised her daughter that one day she would introduce her to Kamal Haasan. “From that moment on, all I did was pray every single day that I’d get to meet him soon, that ‘that someday’ would come very soon,” Teja Lakshmi said.

How ‘that someday’ turned into a reality?

Teja Lakshmi finally managed to meet the superstar of late. On Pongal day, she dropped a picture of her meeting the superstar along with her mom. “I met him for less than ten minutes, but let me tell y’all, those ten minutes felt like ten years. It meant everything to me. I felt every emotion possible, and more than anything, I felt deeply grateful. Life really has a beautiful way of completing circles when the time is right, and in moments like these, I’m reminded why I’ll always be grateful for this life,” she said. Teja Lakshmi, daughter of Urvashi and Manoj K Jayan, is all set to follow in her parents’ footsteps. She will soon be making her debut as an actor with ‘Sundriyayaval Stella’. Go to Source
