The announcement comes as Muslims prepare to commemorate the night through prayer, reflection, and recognition of its historical and spiritual significance.

What is Isra Wal Miraj?

Isra Wal Miraj is a major event in Islamic history that commemorates the miraculous night journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).According to Islamic belief, on this night the Prophet was taken from Masjid Al Haram in Makkah to Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem, an event known as Isra. This was followed by Miraj, during which the Prophet ascended to the heavens. The occasion is observed on the 27th night of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar. In Rajab 1444, the 27th night corresponds to January 16 on the Gregorian calendar, which falls on a Friday.

Significance of Isra Wal Miraj

Isra Wal Miraj is a deeply spiritual night for Muslims around the world. It symbolizes faith, devotion, and the miraculous nature of the Prophet’s journey. The observance is marked by:

  • Special prayers and supplications
  • Religious gatherings
  • Reflection on the historical and spiritual meaning of the event

The night serves as a reminder of the Prophet’s experiences and their lasting significance in Islam. While customs may differ across regions, Isra Wal Miraj remains a time for spiritual renewal and reverence, with Kuwait and Oman formally recognizing the occasion through a public holiday.
