'Stay vigilant': Indian Embassy in Israel issues advisory; urges nationals to avoid non-essential travel

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has also warned citizens to avoid protest areas, keep travel documents ready, and remain in constant contact with diplomatic officials.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has issued a fresh advisory urging Indian nationals in Israel to remain vigilant and avoid all non-essential travel, citing the deteriorating security situation in the region.In a statement released on Wednesday, the embassy asked Indian citizens currently in Israel to strictly follow safety guidelines issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command. “In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian nationals currently in Israel are advised to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the safety guidelines and protocols,” the advisory said. It also cautioned against undertaking any non-essential travel to the country until further notice.

The embassy has activated a 24×7 helpline for emergencies and urged Indian nationals to stay in touch. Emergency contact numbers and email support have been shared to assist citizens requiring immediate help.The advisory comes amid escalating regional tensions, particularly linked to the worsening situation in Iran. Protests across Iran have intensified in recent weeks, with reports of violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces. According to various estimates, thousands have been killed since the unrest began, triggered initially by economic grievances before evolving into broader calls for political change.India has already taken steps to safeguard its citizens in Iran. The ministry of external affairs has advised Indian nationals to avoid travel to Iran and asked those already there to leave using available commercial flights. The Indian Embassy in Tehran has also warned citizens to avoid protest areas, keep travel documents ready, and remain in constant contact with diplomatic officials.External affairs minister S Jaishankar has discussed the evolving situation with Iranian Foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, as New Delhi closely monitors developments. The government is understood to be exploring evacuation options should the situation deteriorate further.
