“So creatively bankrupt”: MrBeast criticised after Beast Games Season 2 challenge ends with random eliminations

MrBeast faced online criticism after Beast Games Season 2 Episode 2 used random eliminations when a trust-based challenge failed. Viewers accused the show of poor play-testing despite its massive budget. While backlash grew, the series still topped charts on Amazon Prime Video in the United States.

The attention is once again squarely on MrBeast. Episode 2 of the 2 nd season of Beast Games has recently created a division within the online community, as viewers are wondering how a game creation rooted in scale and spectacle could get so hobbled by fundamental game design. What had started as a colorful trust-based challenge turned rapidly to become a hot affix regarding fairness, preparation, and creative supervision. The backlash feels sharper because expectations were sky high. With massive budgets, long production timelines, and a global audience, fans assumed every detail would be airtight. Instead, critics argue the episode exposed cracks in planning that no amount of production value could hide.

MrBeast faces scrutiny as Beast Games Season 2 stumbles in early episodes

Contestants were asked to identify the color disc attached to the back of their heads and move into matching circles. The twist relied on deception. But players chose cooperation over chaos. With no incentive to lie, eliminations stalled. After only two players exited, a sudden shift changed the tone of the game entirely. The pivot came with what the show called a backup plan. Names were placed into a box and drawn at random to decide who would be eliminated. That decision drew sharp criticism, with one viral post capturing the frustration.“In one of the “games,” contestants had to figure out the color dot on the back of their heads. They all just teamed up because there’s no incentive to lie. So he just pulled random numbers out of a box to eliminate people. They spent $100 million on this and didn’t playtest it.”Others were less restrained. “People really watch this?” one user asked. Another wrote, “Mr. Beast is so creatively bankrupt that he has infinite resources at his disposal and still can’t come up with half-decent games. I watched the first season of Beast Games and 90% of them boiled down to ‘stick some in a place until some give up’ or ‘randomly pick losers.’” A third comment summed it up bluntly. “Dude needs to hire some game designers.”MrBeast later highlighted the effort behind the show, writing, “Over 1,000,000 hours of work from thousands of people went into making this show. We’re all super grateful for everyone who is watching 🥰🙏🏻”Despite the criticism, Beast Games Season 2 currently sits at number one in the United States on Amazon Prime Video. The contrast between record-breaking success and creative scrutiny shows one thing clearly. Even the biggest creators are not immune to tough questions when execution falls short. Also Read: Adin Ross hints at deeper fallout with MrBeast after Team Water charity stream
