JLR Q3 sales slide as cyber incident, Jaguar wind-down hit volumes

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) on Monday reported a sharp decline in wholesale and retail sales in the third quarter of FY26, impacted by production disruptions following a cyber incident, the planned wind-down of legacy Jaguar models, and distribution delays after production restarted.

Wholesales for the quarter ended December 31, 2025, stood at 59,200 units (excluding the Chery Jaguar Land Rover China JV), down 43.3 per cent year-on-year and 10.6 per cent sequentially. Retail sales, including the China JV, declined 25.1 per cent year-on-year to 79,600 units and were down 6.7 per cent from the previous quarter.

JLR said production returned to normal levels only by mid-November after the cyber incident, with additional time required to distribute vehicles globally once manufacturing resumed. Volumes were also affected by the planned phase-out of existing Jaguar models ahead of the launch of the new Jaguar brand, as well as incremental US tariffs impacting exports to the country.

Sales across regions
Across regions, wholesale volumes declined in all markets compared with the same period last year. North America saw the steepest fall at 64.4 per cent, followed by Europe at 47.6 per cent and China at 46.0 per cent. Wholesale volumes in the UK were marginally lower by 0.9 per cent, while West Asia and North Africa declined by 8.5 per cent, and overseas markets fell by 50.4 per cent.

For the nine months of FY26 so far, JLR’s wholesales stood at 212,600 units, down 26.6 per cent year-on-year.

On the retail side, volumes dropped across all regions, with North America down 37.7 per cent, Europe down 26.9 per cent, China down 18.4 per cent, and the UK down 13.3 per cent. Retail sales for the year-to-date period stood at 259,400 units, a decline of 19.1 per cent from the year-ago period.

Despite the overall volume pressure, JLR said the mix of higher-end models remained strong. Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender together accounted for 74.3 per cent of total wholesale volumes in Q3 FY26, up from 70.3 per cent a year earlier, though lower than 76.7 per cent in the previous quarter.
