Dubai Police is urging the public to stay alert as scammers increasingly target job seekers with fake work visas and employment offers. Fraudsters promise guaranteed jobs or visa sponsorships that have no legal basis, often asking for upfront payments. Authorities stress that these schemes are illegal and can be avoided by following official procedures. The Anti-Fraud Centre at Dubai Police’s General Department of Criminal Investigation is reminding everyone that the only safe way to secure a work visa is through official government channels and legally licensed recruitment agencies. Any offer outside these channels should be treated with caution. This alert is part of the ongoing #BewarOfFraud campaign, which aims to raise awareness about fraud and protect the community.

How to protect yourself from fraud

To avoid falling victim to these scams, Dubai Police recommends:

  1. Verify First – Confirm the authenticity of any visa or job offer with relevant official authorities before making any payment.
  2. Use Authorised Channels – Only deal with accredited recruitment offices and government platforms for processing visas and employment paperwork.
  3. Stay Cautious – Be wary of individuals or unofficial groups promising “guaranteed” visas or shortcuts outside standard legal procedures.

How to report a scam

People who encounter suspicious offers or believe they have been targeted are urged to report these incidents to protect others. Reports can be made through:

  • Dubai Police Smart App – A quick and convenient way to report directly from a phone.
  • eCrime Platform – For online or cyber-related offences.
  • Call 901 – For non-emergency enquiries and assistance from specialists.

Dubai Police officials stress that reporting scams strengthens community protection and helps prevent fraud. Staying vigilant and following official procedures is the best defense against these deceptive schemes.
