Sunny Deol gets emotional at Border 2 song launch; reveals his current state after Dharmendra's demise, 'Mera dimaag hila hua hain'

Sunny Deol recently landed in Jaisalmer for the song launch of Ghar Kab Aaoge from his upcoming film Border 2. Amidst the celebrations with the cast and crew, Sunny took a moment to reflect on the memories of shooting the original Border and revealed how his father Dharmendra’s war drama Haqeeqat had inspired him.Speaking at the event, Sunny said, “Kaise hain aap log? Mein aapke parivaar ka hissa hi hoon, jab se maine Border ki hain. Maine Border ki thi kyuki maine jab apni papa ki film Haqeeqat dekhi thi, woh mujhe bohot pyaari lagi thi. Tab main bohot chhota tha. Jab main actor bana tab maine taay kiya ki main bhi papa jaise ek film karunga. JP Dutta saab ke saath maine baat ki aur hum dono ne decide kiya ki hum iss subject mein film banayenge jo bohot hi pyaara hai so aap sab ke dilo mein basa hua hain.” (How are you all? I have been a part of your family ever since I did Border. I chose to do Border because when I watched my father’s film Haqeeqat, I loved it deeply. I was very small then. When I became an actor, I decided that I wanted to make a film like my father’s. I spoke with JP Dutta Saab, and we both decided to make a film on this subject, which is so close to your hearts even today.)Haqeeqat, released in 1964, depicted the 1962 Sino-Indian War and followed a small platoon of soldiers in Ladakh taking on a much larger adversary. Dharmendra starred in the lead, and the film remains a classic in Indian war cinema.

A personal moment amid grief

The actor also opened up about his current emotional state, saying, “Main zyada kuch nahi bol paaunga, mera dimaag hila hua hain.” (I won’t be able to say much, I am a little shaken.)

Sunny Deol’s Iconic Border Dialogue Turns Emotional Weeks After Dharmendra’s Passing

He was referring to the recent loss of his father, Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 at the age of 89. Dharmendra was last seen on the big screen in the war drama Ikkis, which released on January 1. Border 2, the sequel to the 1997 classic, is directed by Anurag Singh and features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.
